GM Baby. Whatever happened?
I am the son of small businessmen, farmers, and preachers going all the way back to 1066 with the Norman invasion, so I don’t really have much emotional involvement with the bankruptcy of General Motors, but I suppose it does make me a touch nostalgic. Dang. GM ewesterbe the king of the world. Now. Not so much.
So I been thinking bout this song all week therefore have I posted it here through the miracle of xanga audio for your listening pleasure. Do you remember back in olden days? Whoa o o. When everybody drove a Chevrolet? Whoa o o. The juke box plays but now its fading aWAY..
You whippersnappers won’t remember this, but this 1974 song was extremely unusual because it was sooooo retro – the style harkening back to ancient times 10 years before its release. At the time, I kept wondering why the Top 40 station was playing such an old song constantly!
So the First Class released this song (written by Shakespeare. No lie!) and it became a big hit. So they’re a classic 1 hit 1der. Here’s another 1 hit 1der from Edison Lighthouse.

Here’s something funny – that’s Tony Burrows singing lead on both songs. He also sang lead for three other groups that had one hit song each. So he appears on the One Hit Wonder list 5 times! That’s a crazy record record, if you ask me.

If they could just build a good solid midsized car that gets 30 + mpg that sells for less than $15K the car would sell like mad . They need to set a max. wage of 3 million for the top person including any extras including flying Cos. Jet and the rest of the lower paid workers to match the level of pay and benifits as school teachers who buy the cars they make . If they pay back all they are in debt for even though they are bankrupt they should still pay it back then pay raises cold start from the bottem up not to exceed teachers pay + 23% from this time on . the guy at the top may have part of his pay taken away for bad leadership not to be added back in boom times . I built a 69 Camaro that got 26mpg avg. whe the best before the build was 15mpg . I know I could do better with a better transmission and a vacuum advance and a better carb.

Alias, I couldn't get them songs to play!!
We saw a 70's cover band last night called "The 8 Tracks." Awesome. They started out with a take-off on Spinal Taps "Stonehenge" and included, "back when disco sucked." I thought of you!!
I love cars. I don't know if you knew that or not. I do. I've basically had to quit thinking about cars at all for the last 10 years or so or I'll get the worst case of coveting you ever saw. So sad to see The Big Three get so bloated and out of touch with America. It just became about unions and exec salaries and "keeping the economy afloat" that they forgot that if you don't build it, they won't come!
I don't think he should be allowed to make the one hit wonder list 5 times. It's kind of cheating.
